CEdO535 - Week 5 Post

Most of this week was spent trying to figure out how to complete my assignments on a computer that has just about given out.

We were tasked with creating a website. I chose to go with Google Sites (no additional log-ins required) and it's all available right off of the Wolfmail page. I'll have to see what this means as far as what will become of the site once I have completed the degree program.

We also searched the web for additional web 2.0 tools that we could use at work or at home. I went with the latter and found a little online community that attempts to put you in contact with the subject matter experts in a variety of fields (mostly crafts and cooking type stuff, but it looked pretty interesting).

I did run across a different sort of program that I've been playing with for the past couple of days... and it's a Google program as well... it is the Google SketchUp program. I'm not sure that this counts as a Web 2.0 tool, but the online community of people and their available models make it easy to create some pretty amazing CAD renderings without having to spend all of your money on AutoCAD! So far I've made a 3D rendering of a desk addition that I will be attempting to tackle this weekend and I quickly made a drawing of the shelving system that we might be putting in our new bathroom. It's a pretty neat program (and free!).
