First week of Statistics for those who like to call statistics "Decision Making Using Data Collection & Analysis"!!!
The first week's work was mainly group work. We watched a video on the various uses of statistics (polls, probability, historical data comparison, etc.) and created a shared document. The document was used to talk about the three steps in Statistics: Describe the Problem, Data Collection and Conclusion. We also went back through the powerpoint that we quickly ran through during the class session and answered several true/false and fill-in-the-blank questions about the basics of statistics.
What I've found most interesting about this class thus far is the timing of it... I had been tutoring several of my in College Algebra over the last couple of months and one of my "students" then proceeded into stats - at which point I said that I wouldn't be of much use... and now here I am taking a very similar, albeit (thus far) not as math intensive as what he is doing! Odd how things work.
